Frequently Asked Questions
What is Partnership Publishing?
Partnership publishing is where you the author take control of your publication journey, investing in the package you choose and working side by side with our team to get a book of which you’re proud. For more information, please visit our 5 Step Launch Page.
What is the difference between Partnership and Vanity Publishing?
To publish through our Partnership scheme, your manuscript must first pass a review process. We will assess your work for its marketability and merit before offering a contract.
How will my book be distributed?
We have arrangements with printers and distributors around the world meaning that your book can be globally distributed. They will order your books to their warehouses in line with demand.
Can I customise my Partnership Package?
We pride ourselves in getting each of our packages just right for our authors. Just let us know what you want from your publishing experience and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Will my book be stocked in a bookstore?
Your book will be listed on our online bookstore and that of our online distributors, including Amazon. We also encourage all our authors to foster relationships with local bookstores as most have a policy of working with local authors.
What does my royalty rate mean?
A book retails at £10. Say it costs £3 to print and ship, that leaves £7. The retailer distribution network demands 40% discount off the RRP or they won’t touch it. So that’s £4 for them. That leaves £3 (30%) to be divided between author and publisher. The publisher needs to start paying back their investment so an equitable split would be around £1 to the author and £2 to the publisher. That’s a 10% royalty rate.
Can I publish more than one book at a time?
Many of our authors are return customers and we love helping them to get their books out there. To stop things getting complicated, we’ll work on one at a time but we’d be more than happy to help you publish a series.
Will my book be a best seller?
When it comes to getting a return on your investment, it’ll all be down to conducting a successful marketing plan. We do our best to give each author the tools to make a success of their book. Although we cannot guarantee your book will become a best seller, we have had several of our authors become number one in their Amazon categories over the years.
What is a business plan?
Well, in essence, all it needs to be is a simple list of activities that you will do to support your book. Activities which are within your capabilities and control. It is important that these are independent, controllable and focused and do not rely on others. Saying you will contact XYZ bookstore and book a signing for the date of release is a great action plan as it is controllable and non-reliant on others.
How do I sell more books?
We have teamed up with For Authors to make sure that your book gets its best chance at breaking through the new release market. Every one of our partnerships come with different levels of post publishing assistance and together we offer tons of add-ons perfect for every author.
