![]() | Thomas Childress So the big question you’re wondering is why did I do it. Why would this guy take the tremendous amount of time and effort to write a fiction novel, and who in the world is he? Well, I’ll take the time to answer that, but I’m sure it’s not what you think. Reading and writing was an inspiration to me as far back as I can … who am I kidding. I was like most people growing up. I hated reading and writing with a passion ever since I tried to learn my alphabet in kindergarten. |
![]() | Shirley Dawson I am a Norfolk girl, a county I love. Many things are written about Norfolk and I’m sure, nobody could deny its beauty and diversity. After I was married, I moved to a small country village, approximately twelve miles away from the city where I was born and bred – it could not have been more different. My children were raised there and attended the local village school. Although many years have passed since those former years, all three children still enjoy the tranquillity and the beauty of country life. |
![]() | R.S. Freckleton I came late to writing, but have well and truly caught the bug now. Whether anyone is interested or not, I shall continue to write stories. I believe passionately in the books I’ve produced so far.Looking back at my own experiences, I was keen to set a story which featured a gay teenage boy as the central figure and I was also determined the story should have a positive outcome. I particularly liked adventure stories when I was younger, and thought that it was about time the boy got the boy instead of the girl at the end of the story. |

![]() | Kay Carswell My mother taught me to read long before I went to school and I have devoured hundreds of books over the years. Consequently, I have always wanted to write a book but was far too scared to do it. What if I couldn’t do it; that would be the end of the dream. Then after a particularly long and tedious journey across France, I found myself reading the last book in my luggage, one I’d smuggled out of our campsite. It was the most utter rubbish, I couldn’t believe it had been published and so I left it in a bin in Rouen and decided that it was time to start my first book. |

Now happily married again and residing in Kent, my efforts are offered in my first publication….So, Here I Stand. Since writing my first self-published novel, I was brave enough to enter a short story competition organised by Mirador Publishing. |

I can imagine Adolf Hitler sitting in his Berlin bunker with his mistress Eva Braun, and reading the latest edition of the Daily Mail. He angrily threw the paper to the floor and said to Eva, ‘that little bugger Brian Lewis has survived my latest Luftwaffe bombing raid, I must have a word with Rommel about it’.
